ShopTalk

ShopTalk® incorporates voice recognition, touch screen, and wireless technologies to give your worker the most powerful shop floor tool available. ShopTalk’s software is engineered to combine all existing databases (e.g. CAD, Word®, Excel®, pictures, movies, PowerPoint®, and your related business systems) in an easy-to-use, easy-to-understand format. ShopTalk bridges the gap between ERP software and manual systems. Its flexible design allows for simple installation with current computer systems and databases.  At the touch of a button, shop floor workers can access exactly what they need to process work orders, check on any changes, and insure quality by preventing rework, thus improving worker productivity and efficiency.

ShopTalk applications support voice recognition, touch screen data entry, bar code scanning and help eliminate paper based systems and travelers. The touch screen applications allow workers to access job and quality information in real time, and collect job and labor data fast with a secure connection to virtually any back office system.

The GBSI difference is that our systems are more robust and provide features not found in competitive systems because ShopTalk is designed specifically for the shop floor worker on ruggedized touchscreen computers.

The key shop floor processes supported are:

  • Shop Orders
  • Dispatch Lists
  • Labor Reporting

  • View Drawings (CAD)
  • View Documents/Pictures/Video
  • Feedback (Shop floor Communication)

ShopTalk can generate a large productivity increase, guaranteeing a quick return on investment and making the implementation of this innovative system worthwhile.

ShopTalk Shop Order

Information related to the shop order, revisions, quantity, routing, and related essential data is easily retrieved by shop floor personnel on the shop order panel. This function enables the worker to perform their job with greater ease and efficiency, while replacing the paper copy of the shop order on the factory floor.

The need for a paper dispatch list, shop order packets lined up and waiting to be worked on, and workers going to find their foreman to know what they should work on next are eliminated. As a result, workers spend more time on more productive activities, and less time on sorting paper or figuring out their next task. This panel, allows workers to select a work center and view all available work for that work center. The information displayed is user defined. You include the information most useful to your workers.

Workers are presented with the most up-to-date information available. The parts panel displays a list of parts used in production for the shop order entered. Use this panel to display all material requirements for the job. Pictures and/or drawings of these items can be retrieved.

Integrated into the system is the ability to collect and report production information, direct or indirect labor entries. The employee indicates what shop order(s) they have worked on and how many have been completed. This information can then be updated to your payroll, job costing, and scheduling systems. The system will track time spent and save the entries for access by your business system.

CAD Drawings can be viewed for order assistance. Drawings can be marked up, enlarged, and printed when required. Workers are assured that they have the latest version.

Retrieve Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations and other multi-media formats that contain important process and procedure information. Machine process or part pictures can be viewed. Machine set-up, inspection points, and process instructions can be referenced. New employees can be more easily trained with these visual aids.

The feedback button is designed to give the worker easy and immediate communication access to supervisors and other departments while at the work station. Using a localized VoIP connection, shop floor workers can talk in real time, or leave a message, with anyone who could help them with a shop floor issue. Problems can be addressed immediately, saving time and keeping the worker on task.
